Star International School in Dubai’s district Al Tawar celebrated UAE’s 40th National Day today with a variety of exiting activities and performances.

All Star-lights wore U.A.E. National dress or dressed up in the colours of the UAE flag (Red/Green/White/Black).

Special assembly was held by the principal Miss Dolly Goriawala, which featured Holy Qur’an recitation, pledge of the U.A.E., poems, songs and Arabic dancing by students and UK and Irish teachers. The event  finally ended with the students singing the National Anthem with pride and raising their U.A.E. Flags in the air.

Later, the Star-lights did a walk-a-thon on the pavement outside the Star International School to show their love for the U.A.E.

Primary and secondary students thoroughly enjoyed themselves shouting “we love the U.A.E.” and waving their U.A.E. flags. The parents also joined in and walked with the students, whilst cars passing by sounded their horns and some stopped watched and took pictures of the children enjoying themselves.

Star International’s teachers and students  have drawn a map of the U.A.E. on a large canvas – 4 metres. The map has been divided into Flag colours. FS1, FS2 and Year 1 students did their finger-prints in the red colour. Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 did their finger-prints in the green colour and Years 6, 7, 8 and 9 did their finger-prints in the black colour. This will be displayed in the school as a commemorative to the 40th National Day.
