Dubai Real Estate Institute (DREI), the region’s first specialised real estate institution, today announced the launch of its latest graduate programmes, which will encompass three in-built degrees, including Master of Real Estate Development, Graduate Diploma in Real Estate, and Certificate in Real Estate.
Aiming to enrol 35 executive graduate students for the postgraduate programme, DREI’s deadline for the submission of applications is October, 3, 2008 for the Master’s programme, which is scheduled to begin on October 28, 2008.
Delivered in partnership with Australia’s Bond University, pioneers in offering academic courses in real estate and urban development, the programme is designed for students and professionals keen to further develop their industry expertise.
Managing Director of DREI Dr. Salem Al Shafiei, said: “We are committed to introducing the most relevant programmes in real estate education. By introducing this unique program, DREI supports the development of the next generation of professionals and entrepreneurs, and equip them with the ability to deal with dynamic challenges in the local, regional and global real estate industry”.
He added that “We believe our real estate training and educational programmes offered in partnership with various globally renowned institutions will help enrich industry professionals and facilitate the growth of regional economies.” The Master of Real Estate Development is a three semester degree programme, comprising twelve courses with a total of 120 credit hours, allocating 10 credit hours for each course and inclusive of a research project. The first semester will open with a segment on Fundamentals of Real Estate. Providing a broad understanding of the entire curriculum, it will offer a general preface on real estate markets. It will also cover topics on the legal and institutional framework of real estate, planning and land use, real estate economics, valuation, development, asset management, marketing, investment analysis and finance and the globalization.
Since its inception, DREI has successfully attracted region-wide applicants from a diverse industry and academic backgrounds and corporate majors such as Sama Dubai, Nakheel, Dubai Islamic bank, and Dubai Properties.
“Besides acquiring cutting edge knowledge, the scope covered in the Master’s programme will include a fair amount of practical learning. It will also equip participants with advanced analytical techniques to guarantee professional success and career growth in the real estate sector,” Dr. Salem added.
Degree certificates will be awarded by DREI and Bond University to participants upon the successful completion of the Master’s programme.
