The Ministry of Interior has enacted flexible procedures to receive streamline registration at the centres recently set up for receiving stateless persons as of next Sunday.
A higher national committee was set up by Lt.General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior, to find drastic solutions to the problem of persons who didn’t carry any identification papers.
Brigadier Nasser Al-Awadhi Al-Minhali said the registration will take place in 3 phases to avoid any hindrances and get all eligible persons to go for registration which will remain open until 2 months.
“Eligible persons will first get applications for themselves and family members to fill it and return it later and get an appointment when all family members report in person at the centre”, said Al-Minhali.
At the third phase, all family members should report to the centre for taking photos, getting the data in the applications authenticated and receiving a registration card which will be a temporary ID card.
The Higher Committee will summon applicants later to give the final decision on their applications; he noted adding that The Ministry of Interior will crack down on violators after the door of registration is closed.
‘The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has already begun preparing registration centres in four emirates – Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman – to welcome clients as of next Sunday (Sept.7) for two months.
