Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeks new talent in recruitment drive for Diplomatic Corps

1 400 UAE nationals take part in assessment

As part of its efforts to employ more UAE nationals and enhance their skill sets, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently conducted tests to evaluate UAE national graduates for their potential to join the Diplomatic Corps.

The tests, held over two days, involved over 400 highly-educated UAE national men and women graduates with different specializations. The impressive response from UAE nationals reflects their interest in serving the country through the Diplomatic Corps.

In his comments on the initiative, Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, said: “The evaluation tests were a major step towards the Foreign Ministry’s efforts to appoint and enhance the skill sets of UAE national men and women in the Diplomatic Corps. We are keen to appoint skilled UAE nationals in the Diplomatic Corps because we believe in their important role and contribution of their role to the future of this country.”

The written tests are one of many steps in the Ministry’s recruitment procedure, which includes personal interviews. The tests were organized in coordination with the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research and the Colleges of Higher Technology in Abu Dhabi. The tests will cover English language competency, computer skills and general knowledge.

Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of the Higher Colleges of Technology welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with the UAE Foreign Ministry in providing the necessary exam environment and proctors. Dr. Kamali further added “The methods used to examine the potential candidates were exactly in accordance with Higher Colleges of Technology procedures and codes of conduct”
