Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued in his capacity as Ruler of Dubai law no 32 of 2008 creating the legal affairs department of the government of Dubai, reported the official news agency WAM.
According to the law, the new entity will supervise and follow up all legal matters concerning the government of Dubai.
The department will draft, review and study bills and offer legal opinion and recommendations thereof. It will also update the working laws and legislations. It will also receive complaints and lawsuits filed against the government bodies and settle them amicably.
Sheikh Mohammed also issued decree no 42 of 2008 appointing Hamdi Abdul Rahman Abdul Majeed, the legal adviser of government of Dubai, as a legal consultant to the Ruler’s Court.
Decree no 43 of 2008 named Dr. Luwai Mohammed Khalfan Bahloul as director general of the new department.
