Nakheel has announced it is to build more than 1,000 homes in the Manarah District in Badrah as part of the Waterfront development in Dubai.
According to the firm, Manarah makes up more than a third of the Waterfront development and is the first active gateway to the project.
Up to three quarters of the infrastructure to provide drinking water is in place while 80 per cent of the irrigation infrastructure is complete.
Marwan Al Qamzi, managing director of Waterfront & Palm Jebel Ali at Nakheel, said: “We’re making great progress here at Badrah. More than 1,000 new homes in Manarah are now taking shape, with residents set to take ownership by year end.”
He added that Manarah is to be a development which sets a new example for energy efficiency as sustainability is an important element of the Waterfront project.
All of the buildings in the project are to be designed to meet the Leadership in Environmental Design Green Building Rating System.
Meanwhile, Nakheel recently became the first developer in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to endorse the Build Safe UAE programme.
