The UAE has struck contracts in the tune of Dh 12.3 billion on the third day of the 9th International Defence Conference and Exhibition (IDEX 2009), IDEX Spokesperson Staff Major General Obaid Al Ketbi announced today, reported the official news agency WAM.
Al Ketbi said that the UAE Armed Forces landed a contract of Dh 459.4 million to Rheimentall Defence Electronics of German to supply a training system for the Combat Training Centre (CTC). Technical support is also included in the deal.
”This contract seeks to develop a training programme for upgrading the combat capabilities of the UAE Armed Forces,”he added.
”Abu Dhabi Aviation Company has been awarded a Dh 133.2 million contract to operate seven Agusta Westland aircrafts for the purpose of air search and rescue, he said.
Local Advanced Integrated Systems Company has won two contracts valued at Dh 432.7 million for supply and installation of equipment and softwares.
A Dh 316 million contract was signed with the UAE’s Spectre Training and Evaluation to handle the privatisation of the special mission forces.
Local Global Aerospace Logistics Company was contracted to provide one King Air 350 plane in addition to technical support at a value of Dh 35.2 million.
”Waha Capital has been mandated to arrange and manage a financing programme to purchase four C17 military transportation jets from US Boeing Company and advanced 12 C-130J Super Hercules from US Lockheed Martin at a total value of Dh 11 billion, Al Ketbi said.
These aircrafts, he added, would contribute to modernisation of the air defence and air forces fleet and boost the UAE capacity in delivering humanitarian assistance and relief at the international scene.
