His Excellency Sultan Al Mansouri, the UAE Minister of Economy, received in his office in Dubai, His Excellency Jürgen Reinholz Thuringian, Minister of Economy, Technology and Labour of the Thüringen Province-Germany and a high ranking official delegation. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen partnerships across all key economic sectors.
Mr Al Mansouri highlighted the historic bilateral relations between Germany and the UAE, and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Germany, including expertise exchange in innovation, investments and SMEs.
German and MoE officials discussed the impact of the global economic crisis in the region and evaluated the measures taken by the UAE and Germany to limit its impact. Both parties agreed on identifying opportunities emerging from the crisis through more ministerial meetings between the two countries. .
The participants at the meeting reiterated the importance of SMEs in sustaining the national economy. Al Mansouri also emphasized on strengthening collaboration with Germany in industries. He also sought German support for the research and innovation centers established by the Ministry of Higher Education in the UAE.
The German minister stressed on his country’s readiness to cooperate with the UAE, praising the strength of the UAE’s economy. He also reiterated his country’s interest in transferring its expertise research and innovation to the UAE.
Al Mansouri suggested to set up specialized teams to follow up on the latest activities undertaken, and energizing collaboration mechanisms through embassies of both countries.
