Reed Exhibitions, organiser of the inaugural edition of SITL Dubai (the International Week of Transport and Logistics), has announced the launch of a Hosted Buyer Program that serves as a business platform for international buyers including shippers and freight carriers, and, SITL Dubai exhibitors comprising logistics service providers.
SITL Dubai (www.sitldubai.com) will be held November 3-5, 2009 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai and Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group.
“The Hosted Buyer Program has been created with the support of local authorities and major transport and logistics players in Dubai. It provides opportunities for a direct interface between buyers and exhibitors in the logistics industry and is meant to boost the logistics sector as a whole,†said Mohamad Bader-Eddin, Show Director – SITL Dubai.
To qualify for the Hosted Buyer Program at SITL Dubai, companies need to meet strict qualifying criteria including an existing record of business operations in the Gulf and / or the Middle East. Buyers can also include those with a concrete plans to invest in Dubai, the UAE and the region. SITL Dubai Hosted Buyers will enjoy a comprehensive range of benefits including complimentary flights to and from Dubai with five-star accommodation, a facility for scheduled appointments with pre-matched exhibitors, and other attendant benefits. A dedicated Visitor Relations Manager has been appointed to oversee the conduct of the Hosted Buyer Program in a smooth and effective manner.
SITL Dubai will extend over 11,200 sq.m. and up to 8,000 visitors are expected to attend the three-day show. The event provides an opportunity for the region’s logistics and related industries to evaluate the latest products, technologies and trends driving the future of the logistics industry, and network among peers. The SITL Dubai Exhibition will feature a comprehensive range of regional and international companies in various sectors including Transport and Logistics Services; Logistics Infrastructure; Logistics Real Estate; and Transport and Logistics Information System & Technologies. Besides the exhibition, SITL Dubai will also include a top-class conference.
A Steering Committee has been appointed to oversee the conduct of SITL Dubai. The committee consists of key industry-players from leading organizations including Emirates Cargo, Dubai Cargo Village, DP World, Dubai Customs and NAFL (National Association of Freight & Logistics), FIATA (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Transitaires et Assimilés), among others.
In a significant development, the Global Shippers’ Forum, comprising participants from Europe, the Americas, Asia and North Africa including retailers, manufacturers and wholesalers who use shipping for their freight transportation needs, will host their annual conference in Dubai, alongside SITL Dubai. The two-day Global Shippers’ Forum will take place November 3-4, 2009 and will feature leading speakers from the global logistics industry.
