Lead-up to Dubai Summer Surprises witnesses 760 record breakers converge on Dubai Creek Park
As a lead-up to its sponsorship of the 2009 Dubai Summer Surprises, Coca-Cola, the world’s largest beverage manufacturer, set a new Guinness World Record™ for the highest number of people simultaneously opening a Coca-Cola contour bottle at the Dubai Creek Park.
The record attempt that saw 760 people taking part in an event on 29 May also celebrated the recent launch of the Open Happiness campaign, Coca-Cola’s new global integrated marketing platform, and the release of the company’s iconic contour bottle to the UAE market in a design that has remained the same since 1916.
A professional adjudicator from Guinness presided over the event, and presented Coca-Cola with the record-breaking certificate.
Antoine Tayyar, Public Affairs and Communications Manager, Coca-Cola Middle East, said: “Coca-Cola has always been dedicated to expressing a refreshingly positive message, and our new ‘Open Happiness’ platform is the newest way of delivering that message, which started over 100 years ago.
“We are proud to have set a new Guinness World Record, and would like to thank the 760 people who came out to support us. Challenges like this are part of our drive to inspire positivity and optimism, and we will continue to refresh Dubai with more of the positive energy throughout the Dubai Summer Surprises events.â€
An exclusive song ‘Eftah Tefrah’ by the Lebanese superstar Nancy Ajram is an exciting component of the Open Happiness campaign that aims to elevate spirits and inspire listeners across the Arab world.
The campaign’s interactive features include a online video clip competition inviting consumers to shoot and upload their own video interpretation of the song; Bluetooth-enabled outdoors to download the theme song; and booking the largest ever billboard for Coca-Cola in the Middle East, measuring 175 metres in length.
In its twelfth year, Dubai Summer Surprises 2009 is the region’s biggest and most awaited summer shopping and entertainment event and will run from 11 June -Â 14 August.
