O2 1 The Bahrain Chapter of Young Arab Leaders has successfully launched the Global Entrepreneurship Week in partnership with 02 Marketing Communications, Zain, and the Bahrain Development Bank.

In line with YAL’s aim to create an entrepreneurship culture in the Arab World, the Global Entrepreneurship Weeks aims to encourage and foster the entrepreneurial spirit in our youth and prepare them for tomorrow’s challenges, to teach our youth how to network and create a platform for students to share their ideas, and to help youth understand how important it is to work in groups to find solutions for their problems.

“Entrepreneurship plays a key source of job creation, economic growth, and empowerment worldwide. Through the Global Entrepreneurship Week we aim to encourage and empower Bahraini Youth by providing them with a chance to learn, innovate, express their concerns and gain support to be part of this global movement,” said Ahmed Bin Hindi Board Member of YAL Bahrain.

The Global Entrepreneurship Week is a worldwide movement co-founded by the Kaufman Foundation (the world’s largest entrepreneurship foundation based in the US)  and the Make your Mark Foundation UK, aiming to inspire a whole new generation of budding entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into reality. Initially introduced to Bahrain in 2008 by YAL member & CEO of 02 Marketing Communications, Mohammed Johmani, this year YAL Bahrain has stepped in to take the event to a new level and increase the outreach to all Bahrain’s university students and fresh graduates as well as help encourage an entrepreneurial culture in the region.

Mr. Mohammed Johmani, Managing Director of O2 Network, confirmed his support to the vision of the Global Entrepreneurship Week.  “Global Entrepreneurship Week offers the youth a chance to express their creativity and cross new boundaries in their way of thinking and their approach to business and commerce.

The week-long event (16-22 November 2009) will consist of a series of inspirational presentations by local entrepreneurs sharing their success stories and tips on how to can face today and tomorrow’s business challenges hosted by participating universities.  Amin Al Arrayed YAL member and General Manager of First Bahrain, Suhail G. Algosaibi founder of Falak Enterprises, , Nada Alawi Shubber winner of the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders 2008, Mohammed Janahi of Hull Diving Services, and Hasan Haider from Films2Go are some of the young local successful entrepreneurs speaking at the event.

The presentations will be followed by expertise advice and intensive workshops on different aspects of setting-up a business specifically designed by Bahrain Development Bank and 02 Marketing Communications.
The event will also give students and fresh graduates a chance to network with other students and mentors to share their experiences and ask questions.

Students will also be given a specific business challenge that they would be working on collectively throughout the week.
Each group will have a chance to pitch their ideas and solutions to a judge panel for a chance to be one of three winners of the “Dreams Come True with Zain Campaign” announced on the final day.
The opening ceremony will take place on the 16th of November 2009 11am at the University of Bahrain Sakheer Campus, Zain E-Learning Center.
Interested students and individuals can register on the website www.yalbahrain.org or call 17 589855.
