His Excellency Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for the Federal National Council Affairs, said that the FNC’s response to the Opening remarks of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, reflects the strong links between constitutional and governmental institutions and the Council’s commitment to achieve the Leadership’s directives towards building the UAE’s political sphere.
Dr Gargash said the FNC will strengthen its efforts to fulfil the leadership aspirations and implement the recommendations of the UAE President in achieving socio-economic growth. The Government and FNC shared strong relations in the past year, witnessing constructive cooperation on a number of crucial issues.
He added: “Nurturing the harmonious relations between the Government and FNC was one of the key points raised by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa. We will ensure this by promoting transparency and acting on various issues that affect the socio-economic growth of the country.â€
“Among key issues that will be addressed is Emiratisation, which is a focus for our Leadership. The UAE believes that human resources are the basic pillar that promotes the growth of the country,†said Dr Gargash.
During the last session, His Excellency Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Youth and Culture, was asked to brief on National Identity activities in schools. In response, he presented a list of initiatives undertaken by his ministry to strengthen National Identity amongst youth and students across the UAE. .
His Excellency Haneef Hassan Ali responded to a question on procedures to counter the spread of the H1N1 virus at shopping malls and entertainment facilities. He said that appropriate steps have been taken in this area including a full fledged campaign to spread awareness on the disease.
A federal draft law to amend some clauses of the Trademarks Law was also debated in presence of His Excellency Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy.
The FNC sessions witness a high level of interaction with the government with ministers showing keenness to attend and listen to the suggestions of the FNC members.
