Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone is gearing up for The Big 5, the leading international exhibition for the construction and building industry. Participation in international trade fairs and exhibitions such as The Big 5 has fuelled RAK FTZ’s momentum towards growth and development.
In June this year, RAK FTZ sponsored the Ost Westfalen-Lippe (OWL) meets the UAE event held in Bielefeld, Germany. This proactive participation and promotion garnered much interest from the German companies in attendance, and as a direct result, a delegation composed of high-profile representatives from top companies in Germany visited RAK FTZ on the first day of The Big 5 exhibition in their headquarters in Ras Al Khaimah.
“We are happy that RAK FTZ has made a good impression and generated a very great response from the OWL meets UAE event that we sponsored in Germany last June,†shared His Highness Sheikh Faisal Bin Saqr Al Qassimi, Chairman of RAK FTZ. “It is heart-warming to see the fruits of our efforts, and we will do our best to provide the necessities that our German partners and clients need to start their operations here.â€
The delegation, headed by Harald Grefe, General Manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bielefeld/OWL, was welcomed in Ras Al Khaimah and given a tour of the RAK FTZ Business Parks and the Mina Al Arab site. They also met with the Free Zone’s existing German clients in a B2B match-making exercise organised by RAK FTZ.
The delegation was composed of 15 participants from Germany’s leading industries, including the leading crown corks manufacturer, Brüninghaus Kronenkorken (with an annual turnover of 25million Euro); the foremost producer of exquisite table and bed linens in Germany, Strunkmann & Meister, (which proudly counts the ruling family of KSA among its exclusive clientele); a supplier of high window shading, Kadeco Sonnenschutzsysteme, (with an annual turnover of Euro 35 million); and the top service and product provider when it comes to field instrumentation, electrical installation, process automation, etc, JC Eckhardt.
Signing up with RAK FTZ has proven to be a strategic business move for many German companies expanding their operations and entering the Middle East market. To date, RAK FTZ counts more than 270 German companies within its fold.
In honour of its long and mutually-beneficial relationship with Germany, RAK FTZ launched the German desk, a special, value-added service for German clients at the RAK FTZ Business Centre, in October of this year. The Desk is manned by German-speaking staff, who can easily attend to German clients’ specific needs. This complements the existing liaison offices in Cologne, Germany, and at the same time, it will help new and existing clients grow by providing them with top-notch after-registration services.
Clients, The Big 5 visitors, and interested individuals can visit RAK FTZ, at stand 521 in the Main Concourse of the Dubai International Convention Centre from 23rd to 26th November, where information about the Free Zone’s new range of business solutions will be available. RAK FTZ management and representatives will be on hand to answer any queries or register interested companies on-site.
