Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) is celebrating the 38th anniversary of the UAE National Day with numerous activities taking place throughout its family of 18 museums in Sharjah and Kalba from December 1 to 3, 2009.
The celebrations will include activities that focus on the UAE’s heritage and rich history, cultural competitions, traditional dances, family workshops, puppet and theatre shows, seminars and performance of national songs.
Sharjah Maritime and Sharjah Aquarium are organising a Maritime Parade while Sharjah Discovery Centre will host a flag made of flowers and a mural that pays tribute to the nation at the Sharjah Art Museum. A seminar on the ‘Sound of Emirati Identity’ will be held at the Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization. Al Mahatta Museum, Sharjah Archaeology Museum, Sharjah Natural History and Botanical Museum and Sharjah Science Museum will also host various events for visitors and their families including workshops and games.
A parade and various activities including best traditional dress competition and poetry & cultural sessions will be held in Kalba in cooperation with Kalba Ladies Club, Kalba Arts Centre and Bait Sheikh Said Bin Hamad al Qassimi.

This is the legacy of the UAE, and one that must be inculcated by every UAE resident on this day. Our celebrations are aimed at highlighting this spirit of togetherness and achievement,†added Ataya.
