World of Jazz brings a world of music to The Walk this DSF

Jazz aficionados in Dubai are in for a treat at The Walk at Jumeirah Beach Residence, a Dubai Properties Group Destination that is a key sponsor of DSF 2010. Famed musicians Marwan & The Mojos, and Daniel Gassin Trio opened the World of Jazz on Wednesday, Feb 3, and running till Feb 9, the event, presented by this year’s Dubai Shopping Festival, is a sub event and a preview to the Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival 2010.

Jazz enthusiasts or not, crowds at The Walk are sure to be mesmerized by some great music in an ambience that can only be described as relaxing. Shows begin at 8:30pm and 10pm and the main stage located at The Walk gives audiences the opportunity to sit back at any of the various surrounding restaurants and cafes and enjoy good music.

The first night of World of Jazz began with the musical set of the UAE group Marwan & The Mojos that include Marwan Hawwa on Guitar and Vocals, Bachir Habib on bass, Wissam Keyrouz on flute, and Pascal Elias on drums and Soulaf Najjar on vocals. The group has been fascinating crowds in the emirates with a versatile repertoire since they began playing. The night ended with the jazz set of mostly original compositions of the Australian jazz player Daniel Gassin Trio.

World of Jazz showcases a diverse genre of jazz from renowned international artists, aiming to attract residents and visitors with different tastes in music. The event is also a pre-taster to the main activities of the Skywards Dubai International Jazz Festival 2010 from February 10th to 19th at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre. The annual jazz festivity will headline David Gray, James Morrison and The Brand New Heavies.

Indeed, the nights at The Walk becomes more endearing with this superb musical entertainment from a total of 16 world-class jazz talents on center stage. This newly created concept of World of Jazz at The Walk certainly adds up to the exciting line-up of DSF 2010 activities in the city.

There are two bands to perform each night with the first set is played by local/UAE talents followed by an international band, while three bands are slated during Thursday and Friday. Groups perform for an hour, and the first show begins at 8:30pm while the second show caps the night at 10pm. Shows on Thursday and Friday start at 7pm. World of Jazz is open to visitors for free.
