Three UAE National Emirates’ employees have graduated with Honours in Aircraft Engineering from Kingston University in the United Kingdom, after completing a one-year top up degree programme sponsored by Emirates.
The three graduates, Ali Abutaleb Mohammad Saleh Abbasi, Fouz Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed and Khalid Walid Al Ardha, are currently Aircraft Engineers with Emirates and are the first group of students to complete the Emirates’ sponsored study programme.
Khalid Jasim, Emirates’ Manager Engineering Training said: “Emirates has always been committed to the growth and progression of our UAE Nationals. We firmly believe that it is important to develop local talent in the UAE in order to ensure our company maintains its local heritage.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our three graduates and am confident that they will continue to strive for greatness within their respective roles at Emirates.â€
Focusing on ‘Maintenance Management Control and Quality’, during their one-year top-up degree, the three UAE National graduates each received exceptionally high grades on completion of the course. The graduates were nominated to undertake the Kingston University course after successfully completing Emirates’ comprehensive in-house training programme.
Emirates first introduced its Apprentice Mechanics Programme for UAE Nationals in 1989 encouraging UAE Nationals across the emirates to work for one of the regions most innovative and progressive companies.
After completing a rigorous selection process new graduates undertake a series of in-house courses to achieve a basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineers license. On successful completion of the in-house study programme, graduates receive a Higher National Diploma, with the recently added opportunity to go on and complete a sponsored degree with Kingston University.
Emirates is one of the world’s first airlines to undertake this top-up degree programme in association with Kingston University, highlighting the airlines commitment to cultivating young and emerging local talent.
