The Fringe Festival, a DSF attraction featuring theatrical entertainment at its interactive best, began at Wafi, a key sponsor of DSF 2010, on Monday, February 15. The event takes cue from several such Fringe events organised around the world and is a colourful combination of circus, theatre, and music.
Fringe festivals are staged in many parts of the world – such as Toronto, Montreal, Edinburgh, Shanghai, Melbourne and Dublin – to celebrate various forms of art and entertainment, including theatre, comedy, visual arts, dance, and music.
During the Fringe Festival at Wafi this DSF 2010, artists from Hungary perform a variety of shows such as the Talented Circus Clown from February 15-18 and the Fruit Kingdom from February 19-21. Clad in bright and flashy jester and clown costumes, the performers delight audiences with a number of acts that include stilt walkers, unicyclists, magician, jugglers, ribbon dancers, comical show, acrobats, and Arabian dance, to name a few.
On the other hand, children get to take part at this cartoon and interactive clown theatre show as the artists ask them to participate in some of the acts. The one-hour shows are followed by the Fringe Festival spectacular parade that amuses and amazes shoppers at the mall throughout.
The Talented Circus Clown and the Fruit Kingdom will entertain guests from 5 to 10pm daily with each show lasting for about an hour and preceded by a colorful parade. From February 22 to 28, a Chinese Variety Show will mesmerize the crowds in the mall with acrobatic stunts and stylishly choreographed routines with three shows daily.
