International and local experts to present updates on how physiotherapy helps in spine and knee treatment, pediatric neurology, and caring for aging adults

The third Emirates Physiotherapy Conference “Physio Dubai 2010” will be held at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel from the 28th to 30th of March 2010.

Organised by the Emirates Physiotherapy Society under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, the three-day conference will host internationally renowned researchers, educators, clinicians and practitioners in physiotherapy, orthopaedics, neurosciences, paediatrics and rehabilitation medicine.

The conference will highlight the role of multidisciplinary approach in physiotherapy while providing physiotherapists in the UAE with an interactive forum to share updates on their practice and expand their learning networks across the world.

“Physio Dubai 2010 aims to fill the gap between practice and research and more importantly, underscore the importance of evidence-based practice. We have gathered a distinguished team of keynote speakers, all of whom are leaders in their fields,” stated Abdul Adheem Kamkar, Chairman of the Emirates Physiotherapy Society and Physio Dubai 2010.

International experts set to address the conference include Dr Jill Cook, Deakin University, Australia; Dr Roslyn Boyd, Queensland University, Australia; Jackie Whittaker, Whittaker Physiotherapy Consulting, Canada; Dr Marilyn Moffat, New York University, USA; Dr Christopher Power, University of Southern California, USA; and Robert S.Wainner, Fellow, American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.

“Leading physiotherapists, physicians and surgeons from the UAE will join the panel of experts at Physio Dubai 2010 to present the latest evidence in spine and knee treatment, pediatric neurology, exercise prescription for aging adults, sports medicine and use of real-time ultrasound in rehabilitation,” added Amal Al Shamlan, Chairperson of the Scientific Committee of the conference.

Dubai Equine Hospital, the region’s premier facility offering advanced services in equine medicine and surgery, is the main supporter of the conference.  Accredited as a CME (continuing medical education) programme, the conference is also being endorsed by the UAE Ministry of Health, Dubai Health Authority, Emirates Medical Association and Emirates airline.
