Dubai Airports Co said in a statement that the Dubai International Airport saw passenger numbers and cargo volumes jump more than 20 percent in February as it continued to benefit from a global recovery in air traffic, Khaleej Times reported. Passenger numbers climbed 22.6 percent to 3.64 million from 2.97 million a year earlier, while cargo volumes swelled 26.7 percent to 171,707 tons from 135,495 tons, Dubai Airports said in the statement. Dubai International handled 40.9 million passengers in 2009, up 9.2 percent on the previous year, while cargo volumes reached 1.93 million tons, a rise of 5.6 percent on 2008. Dubai Airports is projecting the airport’s passenger traffic will grow 13.6 percent this year to about 46 million passengers.
