Nick Haston prepares to lead growth of RMJM in the Middle East
RMJM, a UK-based international firm of architects with offices throughout the UK, Asia, the Middle East and the USA, today announced the promotion of former Emerging Markets Director Nick Haston to CEO for the Middle East and Turkey. A move which will ensure further expansion of RMJM’s Dubai based operation into the emerging markets of the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey.
Appointed to RMJM’s Middle East operations in May 2009, Nick who is based in Abu Dhabi, has already achieved outstanding success in building RMJM’s growth across emerging markets. In the past year alone expansion has included new offices in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Turkey. Other projects underway in Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Saudi Arabia and Oman may lead further expansion into these regions.
Through his experience as a former British Army Officer Nick is very familiar with the diverse political and sociological landscape of the Middle East and Africa. He brings with him the essential understanding of cultures and communities that has proved vital in the firm’s successful expansion across the region.

As RMJM’s regional CEO, Nick will focus on building on RMJM’s 40 year history in the region; maximizing opportunities for growth in emerging markets; and promoting the firm’s design-led expertise in architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and engineering. Nick is based in Abu Dhabi, and it is likely that RMJM’s headquarters will eventually be more evenly distributed between the Dubai and Abu Dhabi offices, where communications and teamwork are already closely interlinked.

Raymond is a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) graduate of the University of Sheffield, England and has also studied at Harvard University, USA. He is a member of the Institute of Structural Engineers and The Institution of Civil Engineers.
