The Airport Show 2010, dedicated to airport development in the region and currently ongoing at the Airport Expo Dubai, is showcasing the innovations in airport development with a series of seminars addressed by leading industry professionals.
Among the key networking events are Innovation Seminars, Project Seminars and Roundtable Discussions. The 16 Innovation Seminars present an overview on new solutions and technologies to enhance efficiency, cut operational costs and enhance customer safety and comfort in airports. Some of the new innovations discussed include state-of-the-art IT solutions, hi-tech building concepts and surface drainage solutions.
The six Project Seminars provide insights into Airport projects under expansion, construction or renovation. Airport executives and officials share case studies on airport projects in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region.
Initiating the series of Project Seminar presentations, James Robinson, Head of Strategic Planning at Dubai Airports talked about “Aligning the Airport Master Plan Process to the Dubai Strategic Visionâ€.
The presentation highlighted the growth of the Dubai International Airport in 2009 when it handled 40,901,752 passengers. The cargo handled grew 5.62% to 1,927,520 tonnes and air traffic increased 3.92%. In his presentation, Robinson also explained the benefits that Dubai offers with its strategic geographic location. He stressed on the exponential growth of Dubai Airport which is expected to handle 150 million passengers in 2030. The Dubai Airport Master Plan is focused on delivering capacity in line with growth in demand, reinforcing Dubai’s standing as a central regional transport hub as well as maximizing value of the aviation sector within the Dubai economy.

The Dinner will also host the Emerging Markets Airports Awards (EMAA) that honors industry leaders and key players for their outstanding work, dedication and accomplishments.
