Facilities Management (FM) companies will be graded and classified according to new rules that will be set by the Real Estate Regulatory Agency (Rera), told Emirates Business 24/7 the President of Middle East Facility Management Association (Mefma), Jamal Lootah. Speaking at the FM Expo 2010, he said currently Mefma is gathering all options from various experts in the FM industry for regulating the industry.
Rera confirmed to the Emirates Business that the organisation is in talks with Dubai Economic Department (DED) to issue separate licences to FM companies and professionals.
The Mefma president also said the association will be in talks with master-developers to set appropriate service charges. He added that the service charges for villas are always more economical than buildings simply because there are no elevators to maintain, no security alarm systems to be incorporated, no fire alarm systems to be set up, etc.
