The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), the emirate’s investment regulatory body, has discussed the investment opportunities available, as well as new ideas and initiatives that may contribute to encouraging investment and business in the emirate, with the Municipal Council of Khorfakkan.
Shurooq CEO, Marwan Jassim Al Sarkal, recently held a meeting with Saeed Allawi, Head of the Khorfakkan Municipal Council, and explored investment opportunities in the East Coast city and ways to encourage investment and achieve economic prosperity in the emirate in particular, and the UAE in general.
Allawi gave a presentation on the methods and ways adopted by the municipal council in implementing government policies related to cooperation between government and private bodies and organizations in order to meet the emirate’s demands for economic growth.
Al Sarkal explained that Shurooq is working with the private sector on a public-private partnership model to facilitate investment in the tourism sector.
“As we are always keen on concluding deals of understanding and agreements with government and private bodies to boost joint work, we are now working with the private sector on a public-private partnership model to enhance the already attractive investment environment in the emirate,” he said.
He added that the meeting was fruitful, and underlined the importance of future partnership agreements in achieving the goals of both the authority, the council, and all other parties concerned with the emirate’s development and economic growth.
“We shared ideas and visions which all parties agreed on in order to make Sharjah a modern and cultural forerunner in the UAE under the unlimited support given by the sound leadership,” Al Sarkal said.
On his part, Allawi said: “We are delighted to respond to the invitation by Shurooq, who has a lot of valuable ideas for the future of the emirate’s investment and tourism sectors, and we are confident that new moves for joint action will be taken over the next period, especially with regards to coordinating efforts to develop some cities in Khorfakkan.” The head and members of the municipal council gave an overview of the merits of coastal areas in the city, which boasts various water sport facilities.
The parties also exchanged views on possible ways to set up vital future projects during the meeting, which was concluded by emphasizing the importance of holding more meetings to achieve further successes.
