Rooh-e-Ishq is all set to take the stage during Dubai Summer Surprises on June 25th as it unravels the mystical world of Sufism through music, theatre, and poetry. Conducted by Malhaar – UAE’s first Indian music choir, Rooh-e-Ishq follows the journey of Sufism through myriad lands and languages – from the dancing dervishes of Persia to the qawwals of Punjab. It brings together the life and works of four master Sufis of all times: Jalalud’din Rumi, Amir Khusro, Bulleh Shah and Kabir.

The awaited musical will be staged at CentrePoint Theatre, DUCTAC, at Mall of Emirates with the show beginning at 7pm. Tickets are priced at AED 50 and available at the DUCTAC Box Office.

From traditional Sufi compositions in native languages to the contemporary facets of Sufi in Bollywood and pop-albums, audiences can expect a rich diversity of soulful music. Rooh-e-Ishq is a unique, creative endeavour to convey the message of love and peace that the eternal Sufis left behind.

The show is divided into 5 segments. The first four segments follow the pattern of a theatrical life sketch followed by a musical performance based on the four Sufi saints: Jallaluddin Rumi, Kabir, Amir Khusro and Bulleh Shah. In the final segment, Malhaar performs contemporary Sufi music from Bollywood and pop-albums. Each segment is introduced by an expert anchor, who adds to the show’s splendour by presenting popular couplets of each Sufi poet and transforming the audience from one experience to the other.
