New Zealand company FRAMECAD, a pioneer in steel frame construction, is hosting a unique building expo in Dubai next week that will showcase the most recent developments in new building technology from around the world.

This is the second edition of the FRAMECAD Expo, supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, which will demonstrate how steel-framed homes are fast becoming the most sought after building solution both regionally and around the world, offering advantages in speed, superior value, safety and sustainability.

Rob Moule, from FRAMECAD Middle East, said: “FRAMECAD has been at the forefront of some very significant innovations in recent years and the Expo plans to showcase this new technology. One of the focuses of the event will be to demonstrate to people how steel frame building is an efficient and environmentally friendly building solution that can also save them time and money.

“Unlike traditional building methods, all by-products from steel construction are reused and the steel can be recycled. The raw material requirements for a steel frame building are significantly less than for a building constructed in a traditional manner using timber or concrete, and through using the FRAMECAD technology construction waste is reduced to less than one percent.”

Highlights at the Expo will also include the exhibition of a low cost house design which can be built in just 22 hours using FRAMECAD technology, and a display of FRAMECAD’s internationally acclaimed “Factory in a Can” that was unveiled at the last edition of the Expo. This completely self-contained steel frame production facility is housed in a container and can be trucked or air-lifted into any location and made operational within 24 hours of being sited, even in areas where there is little or no infrastructure.

The event will also welcome a selection of international speakers who will present on the latest developments in the cold formed steel construction sector, including Phil Andreou, Executive Chairman for RightSpace Construction in Cyprus, Paul Wykes, General Manager of Gulf Contracting based in Doha, Ahmad Karimzadeh, Director of HESSACO an Iranian based company specialising in steel frame building methods, and FRAMECAD’s own Middle East Director, Nader Elhajj.

The seminars will also touch on the adoption of the USA International Building Code (IBC) by Abu Dhabi municipality and possibly other Emirates early next year, and what his means for light gauge steel framing in this region. The FRAMECAD system is already certified to the IBC requirements, and the Expo will teach visitors about the main requirements of light gauge steel in the IBC, the different material and design standards, and fire requirements.

“We aim to show how FRAMECAD can help businesses make the transition from traditional construction methods into the new world of light gauge steel technology in order to reap the advantages of increased speed, accuracy and significant cost savings,” said Rob Moule.

Wayne Mikkelsen, NZTE’s Dubai-based Trade Commissioner commented: “FRAMECAD is an excellent example of New Zealand’s prowess in the building and construction sector, and industry events like the FRAMECAD Expo are the perfect opportunity to showcase the country’s innovative and new thinking approach.”

“As a whole, New Zealand has a strong commitment to sustainability, and this is reflected in green building solutions such as the FRAMECAD technology that will be on show at the Expo,” he said.

FRAMECAD is a leading New Zealand-based company that has pioneered the development of integrated design and manufacturing of steel framing for building homes, multi storey commercial buildings, factories, workforce accommodation and public amenities throughout the region and the world.

Their technology is currently being used in a wide range of projects in the Middle East including schools, hospitals, modular housing, worker accommodation, mid rise apartments and villas.
