The Festive Season from 22nd December 2010 to 9th January 2011 is an ideal time to celebrate the holidays with family and friends. Why not book a trip to Italy, to end the year or welcome the New Year in true Tuscan style?

Florence’s new masterpiece, the five-star Il Salviatino hotel, has created some special menus to showcase the gastronomy and wines of the Tuscan sub-regions of Il Casentino, La Maremma, La Lunigiana, Le Crete Senesi and La Garfagnana. For those who would like to master some new recipes, daily cooking classes will feature Christmas deserts and fresh pasta making. Shopping for ingredients in local markets is part of the experience on selected dates.

A variety of excursions and activities for guests at the hotel are available. Each morning, guests will receive a gift outside their door. In the afternoon, guests can enjoy Asian tea time or visit a local artisan market in the hotel, with warm wine and music. Or unwind with a spa treatment (20% discount during this period) or watch an in-room movie.

Outside the hotel, there are daily excursions to designer shopping outlets, a guided city tour of Florence and a tour of the Tuscan region. A personal shopper can introduce guests to Florence’s finest boutiques. The hotel will gift wrap any purchases and ship them to any desired address (for the cost of shipping). A visit to one of Florence’s 70 museums (such as the famous Uffizi Gallery) is also an option. Sports-minded guests can ski the nearby slopes in Abetone.

In the evenings, guests can relax with live music and wine, and Grappa tastings after dinner. On the 24th, 25th and 31st December, there is a shuttle transfer to Florence’s spectacular Duomo for a special mass. To celebrate New Year’s Eve, the hotel is featuring a special dinner with music.

In a region renowned for its superb cuisine, Il Salviatino offers guests the different dishes from Tuscany’s sub-regions during the Festive season. Its bar-lounge area is open all day, and is an ideal setting for drinks before or after dinner.

A 15th century Renaissance hotel, Il Salviatino has been perfectly restored to reveal original frescoes and marble fireplaces. Nestled on the hillside of Fiesole, its location offers some of the most spectacular views of Florence. The city centre of Florence is just 10 minutes away.
