Meydan Golf Course heralds the return of the popular sport to Nad Al Sheba with special celebratory event
Meydan, the developers behind Meydan City, held a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday, 24 November 2010, to officiate the launch of the new Meydan Golf Course, which is set to open in the Autumn of 2011. The
exclusive invitation-only event was hosted by Mr. Mohammad Abdul Nasser Al Khayat, Commercial Director, Meydan City Corporation and included special guests from Dubai’s golfing fraternity, tourism industry, international business organisations and media who assisted with the groundbreaking proceedings.
Mr. Al Khayat said; “Today is a great day for golf enthusiasts, families and Meydan. With the re-opening of the old and much loved Nad Al Sheba Golf Course at Meydan, Dubai will once again see the return of one of its most popular and favourite sports and family entertainment icons.”
The new Meydan Golf Course will feature a driving range and a nine hole course designed by the UAE’s most prolific golf course designer Peter Harradine. The course itself will retain elements of the old Nad Al Sheba course and include exciting new challenges for novices and professionals alike. Additionally, an exclusive clubhouse will form the social hub of the course offering family entertainment and an array of quality food and beverage facilities.
Mr. Abdin Nasralla, Vice President of Meydan Hotels and Hospitality Division said; “Nad Al Sheba will once again have its golf course back and be better than ever with the Meydan Golf Course. We have paid special attention to the design and details of both the course and the clubhouse, so that a touch of the magic of old is infused with superior facilities and services of the new. We will have an open and welcoming golf course alongside the world’s most luxurious and state-of-the-art Grandstand and Racecourse. With the stunning five-star luxury facilities and services of The Meydan Hotel, the Meydan Golf Course will be quite unique in the breadth of food, beverage, entertainment and hospitality services that golfers and their families will be able to enjoy.”
The Meydan Golf Course will be open to both members and guest visitors, and like the old Nad Al Sheba course, will be open for evening rounds as well. Mr. Nasralla added: “The old Nad Al Sheba Golf Course was both a sporting and leisure entertainment meeting place loved by many Dubai residents. Its new and improved form will offer exceptional value for what will no doubt be, a UAE and international focal point not only for golf afficionados, but also for those who enjoy and appreciate world class leisure and sporting faclities, entertainment, hospitality and excitement.”
