AC Milan reached dizzying new heights today when they played football at the top of the world’s tallest building, The Burj Khalifa.
With a pitch specially created on the towering 828 metre-plus structure, the AC Milan team took their game to levels never seen before.
The AC Milan squad are in Dubai for their Winter Tour and the Emirates Challenge Cup which will be played against Al Ahli Club on Sunday.
“As the new Fly Emirates shirt sponsors of AC Milan, we always knew Emirates could help take the team to a higher level and we certainly demonstrated this today,” said Mohammed Mattar, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Airport Services.
After rising to the early morning challenge, the team took in the spectacular views across Dubai from the 124th floor observation deck before heading off to a training session at Al Ahli Club.
The AC Milan Winter Tour brings a rare opportunity for local football fans to get close to the stars. The likes of Ronaldinho, Robinho and Pato can be seen training at Al Ahli Club in sessions that are open to the public. Training takes place daily between 9-11am and 3-5pm. Entrance is free.
The seven-time UEFA Champions League winners will also be in action on Sunday against Al Ahli in the Emirates Challenge Cup. New AC Milan signing, Antonio Cassano, is appearing in his first match for the club, while the UAE side is captained by former Italian international Fabio Cannavaro.
The Emirates Challenge match kicks off at 8pm Al Ahli Club’s Rashid Stadium in Al Quasais. Tickets are on sale from Virgin Megastores, the Timeout/ITP Ticketline http://www.itp.net/tickets/ and from Emirates’ Headquarters opposite Terminal 3.
