The Higher Colleges of Technology’s (HCT) Dubai Men’s College was the venue for the recent graduation ceremony of 150 male and female du employees who successfully completed a six-month corporate training course, operated by HCT, in the areas of English language, soft skills and technical skills.

The trainees were selected from several departments within du, throughout the United Arab Emirates, and undertook the training at courses at the HCT’s Dubai Men’s College, Fujairah Women’s College, Ras Al Khaimah Men’s College, Al Ain Men’s College and Sharjah Men’s College.

The trainee program came about due to the HCT and du working closely together to establish du’s Masar Training Program, and particularly its Bedaya and Tamayyoz Programs, as a leading work place initiative in the UAE where the trainees gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to ensure they are worthwhile contributors to the nation and its growing economy.

The graduation ceremony was officiated by HCT Vice Chancellor Dr Tayeb Kamali and du CEO Othman Sultan and other HCT and du officials.

Speaking at the graduation Dr Kamali said the event was a celebration of a model of learning and training to develop trainees with the knowledge, skills and confidence to contribute effectively to the nation and its growing economy.

“This is a partnership for world class learning and we congratulate du for taking the initiative in working with us and ensuring that their employees are getting the necessary skills for the 21st Century,” Dr Kamali said.

Dr Kamali added the program would act as a pathway for the continuation of learning by the graduates.

“We thank du for their continued support of these programs and we look forward to many more initiatives with them.”

du CEO Othman Sultan said: “du looks for quality rather than quantity in our emiratization plan and hence we have partnered with the Higher Colleges of Technology to produce these highly skilled graduates.

“We will build on this partnership that will grow to contribute even more to the development of du and employment opportunities.”
