The Road and Transport Authority’s Licensing Agency has recently introduced a new type of certificate called an e-Certificate. There are 5 vehicle related e-Certificates that the Agency has launched. Clients log onto www.rta.ae then select Licensing eServices / My Vehicles / General Services to obtain the new certificates or phone the RTA Call Centre. Both channels are available 24 hours a day.
The e-Certificates are in English and Arabic languages and are printed by the client at their home or office. To obtain the new e-Certificates is fast and very convenient, but the key benefit is that the new Certificates can be validated online 24 hours a day.
The Agency launched the new e-Certificates and at the same time established a Document Validation Service. By entering references from the e-Certificate into the Validation Service clients can see if the e-Certificate is valid. The Validation Service can also display a copy of the e-Certificate that was issued.
Ahmed Bahrozyan, RTA’s Licensing Agency CEO, said, “The e-Certificates are much more secure than traditional certificates because they can be validated by RTA at the time they are used. It also means that a fraudulently altered e-Certificate is easily recognized.” The new e-Certificates are: Vehicle Ownership Certificate, Vehicle Non-Ownership, Certificate, Vehicle Summary Certificate, Possession Certificate and Refund Premium Certificate.
“Traditional Agency certificates are still available from RTA centers, but these cannot be validated through the Document Validation Service. In 2011 the Agency plans to change all its certificates to e-Certificates to increase community and industry confidence in the integrity of Agency documents,” added Bahrozyan.
