The UAE Ministry of Health launched a new automated system to help doctors and private healthcare facilities access the medical licenses that are requested for medical activities, opening private clinics, hospitals and centers.
This was announced as part of the ministry’s projects during its participation in the Arab Health Exhibition-a leading project-to develop the medical licenses and medical evaluation system in order to raise the quality services of the UAE Ministry of Health.
Dr. Ahmed Al Zarooni, Director of Medical Licenses Department at the Ministry of Health and Supervisor of the project, said: “The project aims at providing an automated system that is capable of protecting medical licenses and evaluating medical certificates through modern technologies”.
He explained that the new system will increase the efficiency of the electronic connectivity between the ministry’s different sectors and other government authorities noting that the system will provide electronic archiving between the different sectors of the ministry of health.
The new system features easy registration and online checkup for those who wish to obtain assessment from the ministry of health in a period up to three weeks (formerly 3 to 6 months).
Al Zarooni explained that those who wish to obtain the assessment will have to make 90% of the procedures in their country of origin to save time for himself and the employer. The new electronic system will lead to easier licensing and renewal procedures for all categories i.e. companies and employees in minutes which used to take few weeks.
The system provides electronic records and recent databases for all categories such as (companies, doctors, technicians, nurses.. etc). These records can be renewed online rather than being done manually once a year.
The system will also provide assessment certificates and smart licences through using smart documents-an electronic document chip to be filled with all the details of its owner in order to enable him or the company finish all the procedures electronically without papers-this is an initiative from the Ministry of health to protect the environment and tamper proof.
“The new system will enter all the certificates, experiences and requested documents through a scanner to be archived in an electronic chip to be read when needed. All the saved information on the smart chip can be read through a fixed or a portable reader to check and follow up the documents easily. Information and data can be exchanged between the different sectors of the Ministry of Health easily as well as government and private sectors through an electronic connectivity system that can be linked with other bodies to take the necessary steps. The system also directs the user to enter all the required data rather than completing the procedures in a typing office in order to facilitate the search advanced option easily”, he added.
Al Zarooni explained that the system will communicate with the users through email in all the evaluation process and authorization of their transactions. It also ensures a unified data that would guarantee the speed and accuracy of data access with the permission of each user of the service. The new system provides a platform for each client, pin and entry to obtain the status of the transaction or requested service.
“Through the electronic system all sick leaves can be automatically certified granting utmost safety procedures from manipulations. These can be checked easily and smoothly by the employer as well”, he added.
