His Excellency Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, has called on all insurance companies and banks, which have vehicles confiscated at the police’s impound yard for more than six months to resolve the pending fines with the concerned departments or as all unclaimed cars will be auction off within a month.
According to Maj. Gen. Khamis the Local Law No. (34) of the year 2008, stipulates that the Police has the right to dispose of vehicles, machinery and motorcycles seized by them without the owners consent if six months has elapsed since the time it was impounded.
He pointed out that the police are entitled to get rid of or sell by public auction these impounded vehicles after notifying the owners of these vehicles through an advertisement in two daily newspapers, one in Arabic and the other in English. The owners have a month, after the advertisement, to process their paper work. If they do not do so then vehicle will be sold by public auction in accordance with the provisions and procedures stipulated in the law.
