His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has received a phone call from U.S. President Barack Obama.
During the conversation, Sheikh Mohammed and President Obama discussed and exchanged views on the overall situation in the region, in particular the current situation in Egypt.
The phone call comes within the framework of consultations the UAE leadership is making with friendly countries and other countries of global importance.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed reaffirmed that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is keen to exert all possible efforts to support the stability of Egypt, because of its great significance and because of its positive contribution to the stability of the region.
Sheikh Mohammed also stressed the necessity that the period of transition in Egypt should be smooth and organised through the framework of national institutions, also taking into account the constitutional requirements of the next phase.
Sheikh Mohammed further stressed: “The UAE rejects all foreign attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of Egypt.” He added that Egypt’s future should be determined only by the Egyptians themselves, free from any foreign intervention.
