This year, Creations, which took to the stage in 2003, will be presenting itself in an all new avatar – adorning a new look – packed with many more surprises and activities. Fashion enthusiasts onlookers can thus look forward to a much more developed concept of Creations this DSF.
Having reinvented itself and draped in an all new style, Creations will take to the Dubai Mall ramp from February 10 to 20. The DSF fashion extravaganza was conceived as a platform for talented amateur fashion designers from the UAE and the entire region to showcase their work in Dubai alongside international fashion designers from around the world.
Set to display the best in creativity and style, Creations will stage Catwalk Shows by amateur as well as established designers, allowing creativity, designs and styles to take centre stage. The shows will be held at the Fashion Catwalk at The Dubai Mall on weekends (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) three shows at 7 pm, 8 pm and 9 pm, on February 10, 11, 12 and 17, 18, 19. Walking the ramp will be models draped in collections designed by Dubai-based and Emirati designers amongst others.
This is not all. The event’s excitement is further built by Fashion Bazaar – a key element of Creations revived with more colours and frolic this year. To be held daily on the mall’s 1st floor, between Grand Atrium and Bloomingdales Atrium, the Fashion Bazaar is a conglomeration of 14 kiosks displaying and selling clothing lines by all participating designers.
The venue acts as a retail platform for these designers – most of whom are established UAE-based designers – to entice visitors and shoppers with an interesting mix of clothing lines and fashion accessories – all in one place, thereby reaching out to a wider audience. So visitors can not only have a preview of their collections but would also be able to buy them at the Bazaar.
And finally, the most exciting of all fashion elements during the event is the Creations Fashionista, where the most fashionably dressed person of the evening will walk away with the ‘Creations Fashionista of the Day’ title along with fabulous prizes and goody bags. This particular event, to be held daily as an integral part of Creations, is purely aimed at visitors to the show – offering them a golden chance to make a fashion statement.
The winner’s ultimate brush with fame will come when his or her photograph gets uploaded on the Dubai Events Facebook.
The first day of Creations opens with a special announcement where visitors get a chance to win two tickets for the Amy Winehouse show – a DSF concert to be held on February 11 at the Dubai Festival Centre – besides walking away with a number of gifts and exclusive giveaways.
Furthermore, many giveaways and prizes will be distributed all week long during the Fashion Bazaar as well as the weekend catwalk shows.
Clearly, Creations is a step towards the vision of establishing Dubai as the fashion hub in the Middle East as the event is aimed at launching the city’s and the region’s emerging and established fashion talents.
