GulfTalent.com’s sixth annual study “Employment and Salary Trends in the Gulf” has just been released.
The report, which is published every year, is one of the most respected and widely read sources of research on employment and salary trends in the region, used extensively by employers as well as working professionals. Key highlights of the report include:
- UAE salaries increased on average by 5.2% in 2010, but 55% of professionals did not get a raise
- Across the Gulf, HR professionals received the highest pay rises, and lawyers the lowest
- The UAE remains the most popular Gulf country for expats, however Qatar is catching up fast
- 5% of Dubai residents now commute to work in Abu Dhabi, a five-fold increase since 2008
- Salaries in the UAE are forecast to rise by an average of 6.3% in 2011
- Middle East tensions could drive more Arab professionals to Gulf countries, but may reduce interest from Western expats
