The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has set the condition of inserting the national ID number as a compulsory data for all new appointments. The national ID number will also be added to the data of the existing employees working under the public job system.
Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, Director General of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, has issued a circular to all ministries and federal institutions and authorities that it is necessary to adopt the national ID number as one of the required appointment procedures.
In an exclusive statement to Al Ittihad, Al Awar said the new procedure is aimed at facilitating the provision of services to a large section of the society; namely, those working in the federal government sector, and also preventing manipulation and fraudulent acts that some might resort to when committing violations.
He explained that the new procedure is operating in two parallel directions: the first is the compulsory insertion of the national ID number for the candidates for new jobs and the second is the addition of the national ID number to the data of the existing employees of the federal government. He pointed out that the General Authority for Government Human Resources agreed with the Emirates Identity Authority that it is necessary for an employee to be provided with the national ID number and hence he/she must – with greater reason – have obtained an ID card.
This procedure comes as part of a bid to correct and update the public job system, Al Awar said, noting that the General Authority for Government Human Resources has authorized the federal government entities to add the national ID number and modify the basic data of employees including the date of birth of UAE nationals and non-nationals, nationality and date of appointment.
The largest part of the public job system has been shifted in the shape of procedures that are actually being implemented by ministries while the remaining part is being used by the General Authority for Government Human Resources to streamline the basic role of the human resources departments, he said.
Al Awar called on government entities to insert the national ID number of their employees as soon as possible.
