With four silver and two bronze awards, OMD was named the runner-up media agency of the year at the 2011 Dubai Lynx awards. It was the only media agency in the top 3 ranking in the media competition, confirming its consistent performance at this and other regional advertising festivals.
OMD’s work for du, which won twice, GE and HP was awarded silver while the agency received two bronze trophies for Henkel.
This is the latest set of accolades for the agency network, which was named media agency of the year at the 2011 MENA Cristal festival and picked up six trophies at the last Gemas Effie MENA Awards. OMD’s work for HP and Henkel was previously celebrated at these two awards.
“What makes this significant to us is that it confirms our single focus of delivering creativity that works†commented Shadi Kandil, managing director of OMD UAE. “Being awarded for both the creativity in our campaigns as well as for their business performance is the best validation of our work we could ask for, after our clients’ confidence of course. Our teams certainly strive hard to deliver both innovation and effectiveness to our clients and these awards, although not a goal in themselves, are a testament to the quality of their work.â€
“OMD did a great job in turning a simple element and insight of the campaign into a remarkable execution, using and owning the most appropriate platform for it,†explained Ghayath Sioufi, du’s senior director-media management & broadcast sponsorship. “Yet again the team at OMD was able to identify the spot-on contact point that fits exactly the nature of the product and use it to illustrate our global roaming offer in a very creative and compelling manner. These two awards act as a reminder of what we already knew: this is a great idea that worked very well.â€
This result consolidates OMD’s strong creative credentials in the region and the world. The Gunn Report for Media, which tracks the award performance of media agency networks, has placed at the top of the global ranking ever since it started compiling this data in 2004.
