Maybach, one of the most expensive luxury car brands in the global market, on Monday unveiled its sensational super luxury Maybach 62S Salon with a jaw dropping diamond encrusted makeover. The new uber-luxurious model comes blessed with hundreds of precious diamonds at the dashboard counters and center arm rest of the rear seat. The car has been receiving a staggering response from the car enthusiasts in Cannes, where it was first shown.
The diamond encrusted super luxury salon will be displayed at the upcoming Dubai International Motor Show, planned to take place from 10 – 14 November 2011 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. This is the largest and most established motoring event, connecting the global automotive industry with motoring enthusiasts and professionals from across the MENA and South Asia regions.
The first model of the car, named after its creators Wilhelm and Karl Maybach, originally was built as an experimental vehicle in 1919, with production model introduced two years later at the Berlin Motor Show. Between 1921 and 1940, the company produced various classic opulent vehicles. But Maybach didn’t really gain popularity until 1997, when Mercedes-Benz presented at the Tokyo Motor Show a luxury concept car under the name Mercedes-Benz Maybach. The German manufacturer decided to develop and market the car under the sole brand name of Maybach. Therefore, Maybach was revived as a brand in the early 2000s. The production of the new model went on in two sizes – the Maybach 57 and the Maybach 62, as the numbers are equal to the lengths of the automobiles in decimeters. In 2005, the new 57S was added, featuring various cosmetic touches.
This is the first time that a luxury car has been launched loaded with precious diamonds. The new diamond avatar of the Maybach 62S Saloon has been designed by, Fawaz Grusoi, head of the luxury De Grisogono jewellery and watch company. The makeover of the car further includes the brand’s scrolled motif added on the car’s veneer trim and initials engraved in black diamonds on the leather upholstery of its rear armrest.
A video, showing an “older” model of the salon only suggests what to expect from the latest sensational super luxury Maybach 62S Saloon.
