While obtaining an exclusive interview with Sylvia, the young entrepreneur who recently started her business in Dubai Media City, we noticed that she also possesses exquisite style and an aesthetic vision, that could be inspirational to many of DubaiChornicle.com readers. Therefore, we continued the conversation introducing to it a different focus.
Q.: Artistic and creative people are usually aesthetes, and many possess a great taste. Do you consider yourself an Aesthete?
A.: Over the years, I have further developed my artistic skills starting from painting, design, and photography. Even, I enrolled into fashion design course 10 years ago. I cherish all fine things in life, being a striking piece of furniture, unique piece of art, enjoying a delicious meal in an exclusive restaurant, or traveling to an exotic destination.
Q.: Who inspires your personal style?
A.: Audrey Hepburn, with her style, grace and beauty. I have pictures of her in my studio too.
Q.: What was the last thing that you have bought, and you love it?
A.: Not long ago, I bought is a small dog, an American Cocker Spaniel. I just adore her! We even moved to a place with a garden, for her to have space to run around.
Q.: Do you have in mind something that you would like to buy?
A.: Maybe you expect me to say something like a new camera or other piece of equipment… But I wish, I were able to buy a Ferrari! Of course, such personal belongings match considerable success and hard work behind it. Unfortunately, at this stage, it is still a dream for me.
Q.: What is your recent “find”, something unique that has fascinated you?
A.: One beautiful colorful hand painted mantra, I saw in a small village in Nepal. A local Monk painted it, and it took him 3 months to finish it. The details in it are unique, and when you think about the patience of this Monk… I wish I had this patience too.
Q.: Do you read books? If “Yes”, what is the title of the book you currently read?
A.: Yes, usually I am reading 3 books at the same time. Currently I am reading the History of Art, Pablo Coelho autobiography and the Graphic Design for Fashion by Jay Hess and Simone Pasztorek. When I was a teenager, I was interested into very serious books, but now I prefer books with more pictures.
Q.: What is the title of the website that inspires you?
A.: Both, www.adsoftheworld.com and www.photo.net can capture my attention for a long time.
Q.: What is the best gift you have ever received?
A.: The best gift I have ever received cannot be bought with money, because this is the love and understanding of my husband.
Q.: What is the best gift you have ever given?
A.: To give myself out entirely to my best friends and be there for them whenever they need me. My best friends are no more than the fingers of my hand, but I will give anything for them.
Q.: If you collect or would like to collect anything, what would that be?
A.: I am collecting city maps from the different cities I have visited around the world.
