The Dubai Government Media Office will launch early next week the iPhone application at the website of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The iPhone app is the first-of-its-kind milestone and makes Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the first Arab ruler whose website uses interactive multimedia technology to allow a broad base of surfers have immediate access to contents of his website.
The move is timed with the launch of upgraded website of Sheikh Mohammed in a direct response to the overwhelming turn out from local and foreign web surfers looking for news updates about Sheikh Mohammed, and his latest activities and initiatives.
The website delivers easily accessed, classified news and information and photos about Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid in both Arabic and English languages.
Commenting on the landmark achievement, Al Jud Lootah, head of new media, Dubai Government Media Office, said :” The achievement is a source of pride for us, being the first-of-its-kind launch of the new technology by an Arab leader website in the region at large”. Lootah went on to explain that the application will be available for installation through the App Store, and will provide news, pictures, as well as easy access to different sections of the website. She added that links to the applications will also be provided through various national websites.
The user can also receive updates as they happen through the Apple Push Notifications service (APNs).
The free and downloadable application, she added, is available on App Store through a web-link to national websites or through simple search for relevant keys like ”mohammed”, ”sheikh mohammed” and ”maktoum or ”dubai ruler”.
The Dubai Government Media Office, administrator and operator of the website, says the website is attracting hundreds of thousands of daily visitors within the UAE and from tens of countries across the world.
