Opportunities on offer across Festival operations from registration to red carpet
The Dubai International Film Festival, one of the most anticipated events on the UAE’s cultural and social calendar, is offering UAE residents and nationals the opportunity to join its ranks and deliver an outstanding 2011 edition. The eighth edition of the Dubai International Film Festival will be held from December 7 to 14, 2011.
The Festival’s annual Career Fair, which showcases an array of short-term vacancies across DIFF operations from front of stage to back office, will be held from 10 am to 7 pm on Thursday, September 15, at the Knowledge Village Conference Centre. The DIFF team will lead two presentations at 10am and 3pm for prospective applicants.
In previous years, more than 300 temporary staff have joined the Festival annually, in roles from registration to red carpet and hospitality to marketing. The Career Fair is an opportunity for candidates to gain a more in-depth understanding of the Festival and its needs, and meet and interview with DIFF teams.
Mohammed AlHousani, Head of Human Resources and Volunteers, Dubai International Film Festival, said: “DIFF has always been a sought-after platform for enthusiastic and committed individuals to develop their careers, make a meaningful contribution to the UAE, and work on a prestigious global event at the same time. The annual Career Fair is a very popular interface between the public and the Festival teams, and we look forward to finding more outstanding team members there this year.”
Emirati national Hind Galadari, who served as a Theatre Captain last year, said: “The Dubai International Film Festival provided me with an insight into the different cultures and arts found in the carefully selected films and the diversity of people who also take part in DIFF, from staff members to film makers and audiences. It is an honour to have such an event hosted in Dubai; it truly highlights one of the many successes this city has achieved in a very short number of years.”
Italian Veronica Scocci, who worked in the Festival’s registration department for DIFF 2010, said: “Working on an event that promotes cultural exchange was a very rewarding experience, and it was exciting to see audiences taken on a trip around the world with films.
It was also a great opportunity to discover the Middle East throughout the artistic creations and cultural expression of the local productions and to meet their filmmakers and discover new talents.
It was definitely a human and cultural experience and also fun to work in a great atmosphere. I really can’t wait to go back to work and renew this experience.”
All Career Fair applicants must be over 21 years of age, UAE nationals or residents of the UAE, and must attend one of the two presentations scheduled for 10am and 3 pm on September 15. Essential qualifications include a can-do attitude, team spirit, a level head and flexible schedule – short-listed candidates will receive in-depth training. Those who are unable to attend the Career Fair can submit their resumes to diffcareers@tecom.ae. All applicants should present a passport copy with a valid UAE visa.
DIFF is held in association with Dubai Studio City. Dubai Duty Free, Dubai International Financial Centre, Dubai Pearl, Emirates Airline and Madinat Jumeirah, the home of the Dubai International Film Festival, are the principal sponsors of DIFF. The Festival is supported by the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.
