The Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced its Human Resources Management plan today, which sets in place clear and specific programmes and initiatives to raise Emiratisation rates in all job capacities and levels at the ministry. The plan also addresses methods for attracting more UAE nationals to its workforce in the future.

One of the main focuses of the plan lies in developing and enhancing the skills of UAE national employees to prepare them to effectively deal with work challenges and to meet job requirements. A number of programmes and best practices are to be applied to ensure career advancement for all national employees and to attract top talents to work for MoF.

Commenting on the new plan, HE Musabah Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Assistant Undersecretary of Support Services Sector at MoF, said: “The Ministry of Finance constantly seeks to employ UAE nationals in our organization, and to train them so that they are able to work in a range of jobs in the financial sector. In line with its strategy to achieve a sustainable and balanced growth for the UAE and applying the most efficient use of the country’s financial resources, MoF has set initiatives in place to help in increasing the number of Emirati employees in the workforce, and in enhancing the sense of national pride among Emirati graduates.”

MoF is considered to be the only entity to apply a development program regarding Emiratisation of this kind, were it had sponsored 20 students in 2009, 15 in 2010, and 11 in 2011, allowing them to study a range of finance and accounting concentrations that meet the needs of the workplace. This initiative was undertaken in accordance with decision number (2009/7/108) by the Ministerial Council for Services, which is concerned with sponsoring secondary school graduates.

The first group of these sponsored students will be joining MoF’s team in 2013. The ministry will also be sponsoring 20 more students in 2012 who will be enrolled in finance and accounting programmes.

MoF had also previously implemented another initiative for secondary school graduates where they were hired at junior levels in the ministry and were supported in order to aid them in obtaining a Professional Certificate in Accounting.
