From Tuesday, November 1st, the Global Village will welcome visitors for 124 days, until March 3, 2012. On the first day people will have free access, while from the second day onwards, the usual entrance fee of Dh10 per person will be charged.
This year, a highly advanced dancing fountain with six unique shows daily will be a major attraction at the centre of the Global Village’s lake.
Another new initiative would be the online streaming of all the shows and events round the clock. The event will be covered 24/7 via GV’s website, social media and the Blackberry Messenger.
Saeed Ali bin Redha, Chief Executive Officer of Global Village said during a press briefing that the long duration this time is aimed at attracting more visitors from different nationalities. “This edition will start three days before Eid Al Adha and will be part of the 40th UAE National Day celebration, New Year and Dubai Shopping Festival.”
This year, children below the age of 3, students, special needs people, social clubs and charities will be given free access.
“A VIP pack ranging from Dh750 to Dh3,000 comprising 100 entry tickets, 30 fun fair ride passes, 10 paid parking tickets, and one loyalty card which will allow its holder easy access from all Global Village gates is available,” he added. A World Tent with a capacity to accommodate over 600 people, another new addition this year, has been set up next to the VIP gate in front of the Iranian Pavilion. The tent will showcase cultural performances, fashion shows, live cooking and school concerts.
During the four months, the venue with world class shows and cultural presentations by the 28 pavilions is expected to draw about five million visitors. Last year, about by 4.5 million people visited the Global Village.
