Forbes Middle East to reveal 2011 Top Newspapers Online ranking in MENA

For the second year in a row, Forbes Middle East magazine will reveal top newspapers online in the Arab world. This event will host a top selection of Editors in Chiefs of newspapers in the MENA region, in addition to distinguished guests from the business world.

The magazine announces today that the event will take place on Monday evening, 28th November 2011 at the Address – Dubai Marina. This event will honor the heads and chief editors of leading newspapers, which are on this list.

The ceremony will be attended by Dr. Nasser Al-Tayyar, President of Arab Publisher House -Forbes Middle East magazine. A large number of editors in chiefs from leading Arab newspapers have been invited. The event will be attended by approximately 300 C-Suite executives from the public and private sectors from the UAE and other Arab countries.

Editor in Chief of Forbes Middle East magazine Khuloud Al Omian comments on this year’s list: “We detected significant changes from last year’s list. It indicates the list’s success by contributing a greater awareness amongst decision makers of these Newspaper Websites. Also the ranking highlights the significant role of electronic newspapers in changing the shape of the press. One of the most important changes is the increase in the number of newspapers in that made it to our list. This year or list comprises of 63 online newspapers while last year it was 50”.
Al Omian also points that this list includes all the Arab countries’ online newspapers whilst last year’s list was limited to 15 Arab countries. She adds: “Through our study of the differences between both this year’s list and the one of last year, we realized that some newspapers in the Arab World have developed their websites utilizing last year’s ranking. It was clearly observed that new features were added to these websites with more focus on the interactive features and social media interaction. Both these features contributed to their progress in the 2011 ranking and allowed others to enter the list for the first time”.

Forbes Middle East compiled this list according to the Forbes methodology of scientific research and supported by Google Analytics which is the best provider of websites’ data and also appreciated by all newspapers’ editors in chiefs who made it to our list.
Forbes Middle East has always highlighted the importance of the role that media plays in raising awareness and educating communities in economic and social development including the role of electronic press that played a significant role in the Arab Spring.

The magazines is currently published in Arabic covering all related topics to finance and business that draw entrepreneurs’ interest for new investment opportunities in the Arab region. Forbes Middle East magazine, which holds all rights to publishing and distribution of Forbes -the renowned US based business magazine- will launch the English edition of Forbes Middle East accompanied by the English website early in 2012.
