Banks Holiday on occasion of 40th National Day and Hijri New Year

All banks in UAE will remain closed from Thursday 1st December until Saturday 3rd December on the occasion of 40th National Day and Hijri New Year, according to a Central Bank circular issued today.

The banks will resume operation on Sunday, according to the official news agency WAM.

The Central Bank in a statement today said : “Further to our Notice No. 9273/2011 dated 24/11/2011 and on the occasion of the U.A.E.’s 40th National Day and the Hijri New Year, all banks should close their branches from Thursday 1st December 2011 until Saturday 3rd December 2011. Official work shall resume on Sunday 4th of December 2011”.

The bank further advised banks to announce dates for the banks holiday to their customers through appropriate means.

Bank are required to ensure that their ATMs are properly stocked with cash at all times, the statement added.
