The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) reached 116.65 in November 2011, and with comparison with the base year (2007 =100), according to a press release issued by the National Bureau of Statistics. It decreased by 0.02% compared to its value at the end of October 2011, and decreased by 0.09% compared to its value at the end of November 2010, while it increased by 0.94% during the first eleventh months of the year 2011.
The findings of the CPI for November 2011 at the national level indicate decreases in the following major expenditure groups:
- Food and Soft Drinks – 0.36 %
- Restaurants & Hotels – 0.01 %
At the same time, there were increases in other major expenditure groups:
- Miscellaneous Goods and Services + 0.34 %
- Transportation + 0.12 %
- Furniture and Other Items + 0.09 %
- Medical Care + 0.07 %
- Textiles, Clothing and Footwear + 0.07 %
At the Emirate level, the CPI fluctuated considerably in the various emirates as shown below:

- Ajman – 0.02 %
- Umm Al-Quwain + 0.12 %
- Ras Al-Khaimah + 0.22 %
