Polo Silver Cup 2012 marks great success for Habtoor´s brothers

Mahra and Habtoor Polo teams, from patrons Rashid and Mohammed Al Habtoor, had a great day in the Silver Cup 2012 winning their respective matches.

Mahra´s Rashid Al Habtoor team won 7-6 to Zedan Polo and Habtoor Polo did the same with Abu Dhabi by 8-6.

In the first game of the day, Mahra and Zedan played an intense and attractive match with four up and down chukkers.

Both teams showed very high level in the first chukker scoring seven goals, in an unusual start for a polo match. In only 20 seconds scoreboard showed it first movement with patron Amr Zedan scoring for his team, quickly responded by Mahra´s Agustín Canale and Nacho González scoring one goal each.

Gonzalez cross the goaline again for Mahra´s 3-1 but Nachi Heguy started to show his fantastic skills, scoring two goals, turning around the match 4-3 for Zedan´s team.

Second chukker slowed down in action with only one goal. Again Heguy added a goal for Zedan´s 5-3.

The first minutes of the third chukker had a better performance by Zedan’s team scoring two consecutive goals for a three goal advantage (6-3). When it seemed that the match was over for Mahra’s team,Nacho

González took control of the match with a fantastic reaction leaving a tenuous difference between both teams (6-5 Zedan).
Mahra completed the hard job in the last chukker with goals by González and Canales for a 7-6 victory.

Habtoor Polo vs Abu Dhabi

The second match of the day followed the same line. High scoring and well played actions with HabtoorPolo and Abu Dhabi exchanging the lead of the game.

Patron Mohammed Al Habtoor opened the match with a great goal for his team.

Alfredo Capella led Abu Dhabi with a great offensive play, scoring 5 of the 6 goals for his team. The first two came at the end of the first chukker for a 2-1 Abu Dhabi lead.

The second period Abu Dhabi kept on top with a 3-2, advantage that increased in the third chukker to 5-3.

Best actions of the day were seen in the fourth and last chukker. Habtoor´s team played his best polo in the tournament with an incredible reaction of five consecutive goals that turn around the match and went straight to a deserved victory.

Guillermo Cuitino and Francisco Elizalde, with two goals each, gave patron Mohammed Al Habtoor´s team the final 8-6 triumph.

The Silver Cup 2012 will continue tomorrow with one match that will be played at 2 pm between Bin Drai Polo and Ghantoot.
