Spectacular awards ceremony that hosted a bevy of A-list Bollywood celebrities
Among winners are the A-listers of Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Balan and Ranbir Kapoor
Zee Aflam, the first pan Arab 24-hour Bollywood film channel customised for the Arabic audience, will telecast the ‘Zee Cine Awards 2012’ exclusively on the channel on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at 20:00 KSA time.
Described as the world’s biggest viewers’ choice awards, the headline-making ceremony, hosted in Macau, had brought together a bevy of A-list Bollywood celebrities, who enjoy a wide fan following in the Arab world.
Tamer Al Sherbini, Head of Marketing of Zee Aflam said: “Zee Cine Awards are keenly followed by Bollywood film lovers in the Arab world, especially after the Awards ceremony was hosted in Dubai in its first international outing. Television viewers in the region can catch the excitement associated with the event including red carpet interviews as well as the full roster of the awards programme that featured entertainment acts by the leading stars of Bollywood and the Hindi film industry.”
The Awards ceremony was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra, with Shah Rukh also walking away with the Jury Award for Best Actor for his performance in Don 2.
Vidya Balan won the Popular Award and Jury Award for Best Actress for her performances in The Dirty Picture, while Ranbir Kapoor won the Popular Award for Best Actor for Rockstar. Rockstar director Imtiaz Ali was adjudged Best Director; and The Dirty Picture won the Jury Award for Best Film.
Held annually, the Zee Cine Awards were first instituted in 1998, and the award ceremony was held in Mumbai, India, until 2004. Subsequently, the Awards ceremony was held in Dubai, London, Mauritius, Malaysia and Singapore.
