At least 30,000 peace lovers of different nationalities are expected to participate in the first international Peace March in Dubai on Friday, organisers Dubai International Peace Convention (DIPC) said.

The 2-km peace march, from Dubai Murooj Rotana to World Trade Centre (WTC), will be made colourful, meaningful and thrilling with hot air balloons, sky diving, parachuting and helicopter dives, in addition to the presence of bikers and car enthusiasts, media coordinator, DIPC Abdul Nazeer said.

“This Peace March is dedicated to all those who are striving to make this world a better place to live in. People from various walks of life, nationalities and ideologies are invited to join this March for Peace,” he and other office-bearers urged at a news conference held in Dubai on Tuesday.

“Highlights of this noble initiative, in which around 30,000 people will participate, are colourful sky events that beautify the evening skies of Dubai streaming the image of Peace. Numerous bikers and several fancy cars will drive across the prominent highways of Dubai with the flags of peace,” he said.

“Finally, citizens and the residents of Dubai — men and woman, adult and children, executives and labourers, people from different walks of life cutting across the borders of nationality, status, ethnicity, race and religion will march together in one rank showcasing the diverse and colourful image of this region in this grand march for peace,” organisers said.

The news conference was attended by nine members of the DIPC, a Dubai Government initiative. The thrilling sky events will have the participation of 10 divers who will stunt dive with two flags of Dubai Peace to the junction of Emirates Tower exit Road 312 at around 4.15 pm on Friday.

The Ministry of Interiors will spare 18 horses to carry the peace flags, while personnel will use flutes to accompany the parade.

Five hundred bikers, 200 cars and one chopper will accompany the parade starting from 4 pm and follow pedestrians. Meanwhile, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for World Peace will host social campaigns under the title ‘Peace for Patients’. Top dignitaries and organising committee members of Mohammed Bin Rashid Award for World Peace will visit government hospitals with gifts to the patients in order to drive home the message of human responsibility towards all those who are in need.

By doing so, they follow the novel system of Islam in caring for human beings regardless of nationality, race and religion, he added.
