The $220 million “The Avengers,” which gathers together Disney’s Marvel-owned superhero stable of Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans) and the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) opens in Dubai’s movie theaters on 3rd of May.

This geek Valhalla has everyone in the industry gleefully counting profits even before it opens tomorrow. The Marvel franchise has an established track -record. ‘Iron Man’ was huge and the studio had good singles and doubles with ‘Captain America’ and ‘Thor.’

‘Avengers’ is estimated to open above $155 million, beating the record for a best nonsequel opening that was just made by the still-going in Dubai’s cinemas ‘The Hunger Games’ with $152 million.” If you haven’t watched “The Hunger Games” yet, consider Dubai Chronicle’s editor  and expect by the end of it to feel a little sick. It is a violent and full of agression movie that should be at least a PG 18, but not PG 15.

The “Avengers” is about saving the superheroes and some industry insiders expect the movie may even gain cult status over the years.
